ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A 34-year-old illegal immigrant from Bolivia was sentenced to a year and three months in federal prison for reentering the United States after deportation following an aggravated felony conviction, the Department of Justice announced.

Favian Sejas Castellon, also known as Alejandro Fernandez Paz, had been removed from the United States on July 11, 2022, pursuant to a final order of removal. He unlawfully reentered the country in 2024, according to court documents filed in the Eastern District of Virginia.

Sejas Castellon’s criminal record in the United States stretches back to February 2018, when he was arrested for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. While that charge was pending, he was arrested for and found guilty of assault and battery of a family member. He was convicted of the cocaine distribution charge in July 2018.

After his illegal reentry, Sejas Castellon was arrested for a DWI in Fairfax County on June 28, 2025. A federal grand jury subsequently indicted him for illegal reentry after removal subsequent to a conviction for an aggravated felony under Case No. 1:26-CR-26. He pleaded guilty on March 10.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigated the case. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jose M. Ortiz prosecuted it.

The DOJ designated the case as part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative the department describes as marshaling its full resources “to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.”

Sejas Castellon remains subject to his previous order of removal. Related court documents are available through the District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia or on PACER under Case No. 1:26-CR-26.
