CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Federal immigration officers arrested 24 illegal immigrants during a one-day targeted operation in Corpus Christi, partnering with state and local law enforcement to sweep up individuals with criminal records or no legal basis to remain in the United States, ICE announced.

The operation, conducted May 13, netted criminal illegal immigrants with convictions for theft, assault, and driving while intoxicated, as well as individuals arrested for possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespass, and illegal reentry into the country, according to the agency. Those with prior deportations could face additional federal charges for illegal reentry under 8 U.S.C. § 1326.

“The outcomes of this operation speak for themselves and are a testament to the outstanding teamwork, professionalism and determination displayed by everyone involved,” said Matthew Ochoa, ICE Harlingen acting field office director. “The joint effort between our partners was instrumental to our success, and I am grateful for the commitment and effort everyone contributed.”

The Corpus Christi sweep is part of ICE’s broader daily enforcement posture under Secretary Kristi Noem, which the agency said is focused on removing criminal illegal immigrants from American communities. ICE described the operation as exemplifying a unified law enforcement mission across federal, state, and local agencies.

ICE urged the public to report crimes and suspicious activity by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or submitting tips through the agency’s online form. The agency said routine immigration enforcement operations continue nationwide.
