PORTLAND, Ore. — A 38-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico pleaded guilty last Thursday to a federal charge of alien in possession of a firearm after he pulled a handgun and threatened to kill his partner and himself at a residence in Tillamook County, U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford announced.

Pablo Villasenor-Ochoa, who was unlawfully residing in the United States, faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. Under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(5), it is a federal crime for an illegal immigrant to possess a firearm or ammunition.

According to court documents, Villasenor-Ochoa pulled out a handgun, loaded it, and threatened to kill his partner and himself on Dec. 21, 2025. Two days later, law enforcement located the firearm in a vehicle used by Villasenor-Ochoa.

A federal grand jury in Portland returned an indictment charging Villasenor-Ochoa with alien in possession of a firearm on June 2, 2026. He entered his guilty plea last Thursday before a U.S. district court judge.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is investigating the case. The Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance in the investigation, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon is prosecuting.

Villasenor-Ochoa is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 26, 2026, before a U.S. district court judge in Portland.
